At Firefighters’ Retirement System (FRS), we are dedicated to providing a secure and prosperous future for our brave firefighters. Established by the Louisiana State Legislature in 1979, we are a cost-sharing, multi-employer governmental defined benefit pension plan.

We aim to provide retirement and other benefits to members and Louisiana firefighters, ensuring their financial security and peace of mind. History of Firefighters’ Retirement System

Firefighters’ Retirement System began operations on January 1, 1980, and became a qualified defined benefit plan on January 1, 2005. Governed by an 11-member Board of Trustees, we are proud to be one of Louisiana’s nine statewide pension systems.
